Computer Network

What is Computer?

컴퓨터는 computer programming을 통해서 자동적으로 수학적 혹은 논리적 operations를 수행하는 sequences를 실행할 수 있는 device

ex) Desktop Computer, Server Computer, Tablet Computer, Smart Phones, Smart Watches, Wearable Computers, IoT & Sensor Devices, Comsumer Electronics, Vehicles, More and More

What is Computer Network?

컴퓨터 네트워크는 network nodes에 위치한(혹은 제공하는) 자원을 공유하는 computers의 모임

 

Categories of Networks

- Local Area Network

• LAN: usually privately owned and links the devices in a single office, building or campus

- Metropolitan Area Network

• MAN: designed to extend over an entire city

- Wide Area Network

• WAN: a telecommunications network that extends over a large geographic area
• 보통 전용선(Leased Line)과 함께 구성

 

OSI 7 Layer

• OSI(Open System Interconnection) model: 통신 기기 혹은 통신의 internal structure and technology과 관계 없이 communication functions를 표준화 혹은 특성화하는 개념적 모델
• 다양한 communication systems가 표준 protocols에서 통신 가능하도록 communication system을 7개의 추상적 layers로 분할
  • Application(Layer 7)
  • Presentation(Layer 6)
  • Session(Layer 5)
  • Transport(Layer 4)
  • Network(Layer 3)
  • Datalink(Layer 2)
  • Physical(Layer 1)
